Welcome to Jordan Stamps

Honouring the Astronauts - Mercury Space Capsule

This stamp is another issue from Jordan's series dedicated to the pioneers of space exploration. It depicts a Mercury space capsule in orbit above the Earth, representing the spacecraft used in the United States' first manned spaceflight program. The Mercury missions demonstrated that humans could travel and work in space, laying the foundation for the Gemini and Apollo programs that followed. By issuing this stamp, Jordan celebrated one of the defining technological achievements of the twentieth century. The issue honors the astronauts, scientists, and engineers whose work expanded human knowledge and opened the way for future exploration of space, while promoting appreciation for scientific progress and international interest in the Space Age.
