Establishment of the Parliament - 50 mil
This stamp commemorates a foundational milestone in Jordan’s modern constitutional history, marking the establishment of the first Jordanian Parliament in 1947. The central illustration features the clean, geometric lines of the Parliament building in Amman, framed by an ornate border with royal crowns in the upper corners and bold Arabic calligraphy reading "ذكرى تأسيس المجلس النيابي ١٣٦٦ - ١٩٤7" (Commemoration of the Foundation of the Legislative Assembly 1947 - 1366). This design carries a powerful message of democratic institutionalization, modern statecraft, and legal sovereignty under the Hashemite monarchy. Issued shortly after the country achieved full independence, the stamp documents the transition from an autocratic emirate to a constitutional kingdom. By circulating this postal release, the government under King Abdullah I celebrated its new representative institutions, projecting an image of a progressive, self-governing nation establishing its modern political infrastructure on the world stage.
